Frequently Asked Questions
Section I covers fired steam boilers (with burners). Section VIII covers unfired pressure vessels — equipment that receives steam, air, or other media from external sources. Most process equipment requires Section VIII.
Check your vessel data sheet or nameplate. Required capacity depends on your process conditions. Our configurator shows capacity for each valve size at your set pressure so you can verify it meets requirements.
The Series 740 is available for all three media types, but the valve must be ordered for specific service — internal trim and certification differ by media. Select your media in the configurator.
Standard 740 is bronze with stainless trim. For corrosive applications, Series 743 offers all-stainless construction. Contact us for specific material recommendations.
Yes. Every valve ships with certificate of compliance, test report, and capacity data. ASME Section VIII certification and National Board registration included.
ASME allows multiple valves to provide total required capacity. Each valve must be set at or below MAWP. Configure each separately and verify combined capacity.
