High-Pressure Relief Valves — Up to 6,000 PSIG

Extreme-pressure industrial systems—oil and gas production, refining, power generation, and specialty manufacturing—require precision relief protection at pressures exceeding 2,500 PSIG up to 6,000 PSIG and beyond. Aquatrol’s high-pressure relief valves use pilot-operated designs for stability, redundant configurations for safety-critical service, and materials engineered for extreme conditions. High-Pressure Relief System Design

High-pressure systems (above 2,500 PSIG) experience extreme loadings and response requirements that demand specialized valve design. Direct-acting valves cannot provide stable, proportional relief at ultra-high pressures; pilot-operated designs with amplification ratios are essential. Aquatrol manufactures pilot-operated high-pressure relief with proven performance in oil and gas, power generation, and specialty process applications.

Redundancy and safety-critical design are standard for high-pressure systems. Dual relief configurations, block isolation, test ports, and pressure limiting are all engineered into high-pressure manifolds. Failure analysis and worst-case design ensure multiple-failure tolerance and predictable safe state.

High-pressure materials selection is critical—standard stainless steels can experience brittle fracture or stress corrosion cracking. We specify appropriate alloys (duplex, super-duplex, specialty steels) with fracture toughness and fatigue analysis. Every high-pressure system undergoes detailed engineering review and third-party certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pilot-operated relief valve and why is it used for high-pressure?
A pilot-operated relief valve uses a smaller pilot valve to sense pressure and control a larger main valve. This amplification provides excellent pressure control, minimal back pressure, and stability at extreme pressures. Direct-acting valves cannot achieve this performance above 2,000–2,500 PSIG.
How do I know if my system needs high-pressure relief?
If your system operates above 2,500 PSIG, high-pressure relief is strongly recommended. At extreme pressures, response stability and material selection are critical. Consult with our engineering team for your specific pressure, flow, and media requirements.
What materials do you use for extreme-pressure applications?
High-pressure systems typically require duplex, super-duplex, or specialty alloys selected for fracture toughness and corrosion resistance. Material choice depends on media, temperature, and pressure cycling. We conduct materials analysis and recommend appropriate alloys for your specific conditions.
Can you design dual relief or redundant configurations?
Yes. High-pressure systems often require dual relief for safety redundancy and capacity balancing. We design custom manifolds with pilot isolation, block valves, and test ports. Provide your system requirements and flow capacity, and we’ll engineer a redundant configuration.
