What does NSF 372 certification mean?
NSF/ANSI 372 certifies that materials do not contain lead and do not leach harmful substances into drinking water. Certification covers the entire valve—body, internals, seals, springs. It’s mandatory in the United States for potable water applications.
Why is thermal expansion relief needed on water heaters?
When water heats in a sealed system, it expands. The pressure rise can exceed the system’s safe working pressure, creating risk of rupture. A thermal expansion relief valve opens to release excess pressure safely, protecting the tank and piping while preventing water waste.
How do I size a potable water thermal relief valve?
